Amir Khan Destroy Zab Judah
Amir Khan destroys Zab Judah! In a highly awaited junior welterweight unification bout, WBA champion Amir Khan.(26-1, 18 KOs) scored a spectacular fifth round knockout over IBF champion Zab Judah (41-7, 28 KOs) on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Khan totally dominated his opponent and controlled the fight, leaving the crowd anxious for his next bout. Khan finished Judah with a powerful right hand to the body. Time was 2:47. Judah reported he was dropped after a low blow but the referee counted him out.
In the co-feature, undefeated super middleweight contender Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (25-0, 19 KOs) scored a sixth round stoppage over late sub Jason Lehoullier (21-6-1, 8 KOs). Time was 1:38. Quillin was originally slated to face Tarvis Simms but he couldn’t fight due to injury.
In a rematch, heavyweight fighter Bryant Jennings (9-0) won a six round unanimous decision victory over Theron Johnson (5-6). Scores were: 60-53, 60-53 and 59-54.
Undefeated featherweight puncher Gary Russell Jr. (17-0, 10 KOs) won a one-sided eight round unanimous decision over Eric Estrada (9-2, 3 KOs). Russell floored Estrada in the seventh round. Scores were: 80-71 on all cards.
Middleweight fighter James Kirkland (29-1, 26 KOs) scored a second round TKO over Alexis Hloros (15-4-2). Hloros caught his opponent with a few powerful punches in the beginning, but the more experienced Kirkland survived and managed to drop Hloros twice in the first round. In round two, Kirkland finished Hloros with a left hook. Time was 0:25.
Super featherweight Ronny Rios (15-0, 7 KOs) scored a first round TKO over Noe Lopez Jr. (7-9, 4 KOs) in a scheduled eight round bout. Rios floored Lopez with a straight right punch to the body.
Time was 1:12.
Middleweight Josiah Judah (10-1-1) won a majority decision over Rafal Jastrzebski (4-7-1). Scores were 57-57, 58-56 and 59-55.
Lightweight Jamie Kavanagh (8-0) won a six round unanimous decision victory over Marcos Herrera (6-6-1). Scores were 59-54, 60-54 and 60-53.
